SYRIA, Decapolis. Gadara. Macrinus, 217-218. Tetradrachm (Billon, 24 mm, 12.40 g, 12 h). ΑΥΤ•Κ•Μ•ΟΠ C[Є M]ΑΚΡЄΙΝΟC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Macrinus to right. Rev. ΔΗΜΑΡ[X ЄΞ] ΥΠΑΤ•ΠΑΠ Eagle with spread wings standing facing, head to left and holding wreath in beak; between the eagle's legs, the Charites (the Three Graces) standing within laurel wreath. Prieur 1604 var. (differing reverse legend). Extremely rare. A beautifully toned and sharply struck example. Extremely fine.
